The story of José “Pepe” Blanco is one of heartbreak and familiar turmoil - an eternal love story dedicated to Sanlúcar de Barrameda - and one that is still being written. With the dissolution of his Father’s winery that was built in the early 2000’s and closed in 2023, Pepe’s radiant light was dimmed but not could not be quelled, and these wines are his second chance at leaving a small piece of his family’s powerful Sanluqueño legacy behind. La Luz Selections is very proud to represent his reincarnation - a gran phoenix who rose from the albariza.

Pepe's next chapter is being written alongside his daughter, Marta. Working from a small winery in Mesas de Asta, father and daughter began anew with the 2024 harvest, exploring vineyards in two distinct corners of the Marco de Jerez. Rather than recreating the former wines, they're embracing the freedom to explore the region's ancient varieties, remarkable soils and traditions through a new generation of white wines.

Their inaugural releases tell two very different stories of albariza. El Caserón de Mahína comes from old Palomino vines rooted in the layered, chalk-rich barajuela soils of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, while Campiz Viejo celebrates the revival of Vijariega Blanca, grown on the dense, compact tosca cerrada of El Puerto de Santa María. Both wines reflect Pepe's lifetime of experience in the vineyards and cellars of Jerez, now brought to life through a shared vision with Marta.
